Looking back at your Preliminary Task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progressionfrom it to full product?
The Preliminary Task
In the preliminary task, I was in the exact same group as I was in our main media project. We work well as a group, but i think that we could have improved the preliminary task a lot. When we created the preliminary task, we learnt the 180 degree rule, shot-reverse-shot and Match on Action. We used all of them in the preliminary task, but we were not sure if they were appropriate enough. After we had looked at what we had produced, we thought of what we could have changed, and used them to make our horror film better.
Horror Film
We decided that we could use a cross cutting in our horror, to show the conversation between the young woman, and the young man. This would show the audience who is speaking. It also helped them realise it was a conversation, as it may have been unclear as they were in different rooms.
We also used Match on Action in our film production. We used this when Ollie, the young man, picked up a box off of the floor, and started to take it down the hallway. We then skipped a little bit of the action, and this was to use this technique, and it was useful as the audience would have assumed what had happened. We used this again when the young woman of the film sees something in the mirror, and we slightly skip a bit to when she goes into the room to look for whatever she saw.
The group also decided to include an 180 degree rule, and this was used when the young man puts the book into the box in the kitchen. This shows where he has put the book, and shows the audience the features of the book.
So overall, i have learnt a lot through the duration of my media projects. have learnt how to use the 180 degree rule, shot-reverse-shot and Match on Action appropriately, and i believe i have a good understanding of certain shot types, and when its appropriate to use them. I have also increased my knowledge in how to plan efficiently, as i think it is the most important part of a film, as well as doing research.
Above is the Match on Action we used in our preliminary task.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
Below I will show you some of the equipment that we used during the process of filming and editing our project.
To the left of this text is a picture of me using the camera for our film. Obviously, without this piece of equipment, our project would not go ahead, and at the end of the project I has learnt how to use it efficiently. Even thought I was no the cameraman, I still gathered an understanding of how to use by either watching Rebecca do it, or from doing it in the final project or even the preliminary task.
This project helped me to get a much better understanding of how Adobe Premier worked, and the equipment that we needed to film the project. We also used other programmes on the computer to complete our project, such as YouTube for feedback, and adobe Photoshop to create the Production Company logo. We also psoted the video from Youtube onto Facebook, as we wanted our friends to see what we had been doing, and gives us some feedback on it.
This was our editing software, and this helped me an awful lot. This taught me how to edit suficiently, and how to use this software. At first i thought it was quite complicated, but i soon got used to using the software, and everything was a lot simpler. We used tools such as Cuts, Fades and some special effects which were helpful regarding the titles that we also imputted.
We used 'Blogger' to obviously add our blog posts. Before this, i had never created a blog in my life, so it taught me how to create blogs, and hows to use them appropriatley.

The tripod also helped us to film our project an awful lot, as it helped us to get a steady camera, and to rotate the camera with ease. The tripod is quite simple to use, but I thought it would still help to get a good understanding of how it works, along with the camera.
To the right of this text, is evidence of me using our editing software, which was Adobe Premier. We found this quite hard to use when we did our preliminary task, but we had improved it much more for our final project. We also used many different effects, and one of the main ones we frequently used was a fade, and this helped to add tension in the title sequence.

I used 'Youtube' for getting feedback on my Horror film, and also to add notes to, so I could show my audience about why I used each conventions.
We used Photoshop to make the Production Company Logo of our films, and this tought me how to actually use the software. This also showed me how to make a logo that suits my specific genre.

How did you attract/adress your audience?
The video above this text is evidence of me putting the video onto YouTube, and putting messages and comments onto it. This would be a lot easier for me to justify why the group added certain bits.

Who would be the audience for your media product?
Target Audience
Male:
Female:
Demographics
However, we decided not to have a specific gender, because then it could appeal to more people. We also did this because our research showed that both Males and Females enjoy watching horrors, so we thought it was common sense to aim it at them both. We also did the same for races, as this would broaden out our film, and make it more suitable for everyone. We did not select a specific geographical location, so that everyone around the world could relate to it.
In the film we have created, their are two protagonists. Both of them are young adults, and have just purchased a new home, of which they are moving in to. So because the ages of the protagonists in are film are young adults, we decided to aim it at that set age group. This also would attract teenagers, as it could show them that they could be in a happy relationship. We did not set a specific gender or race. The reason for this is so that everyone could relate to it, and so that the film could be broaden out to many different ranges of audiences.
Psychographics
We discussed as a group how we were going to interest young people, and we knew that the Cinema would be a very likely option, because many people go out at least once a month to visit it, and see a new film that has been released into the marketplace. Also, many of the young teenagers go to the cinema just to view the latest horror movies.
When our group were thinking about what type of music to go with the genre, we thought of a Jewellery box noise. We could not find one that was appropriate enough, so we decided to go for a calm piece of music, which also has a reference to horror. We found the perfect music for this, and put it over the top of our title sequence.
Also in our film, we tried to make our character stereotypical, because then many people in the audience would have been able to relate to it. We also didn't want the opening scene to be too boring, so at the final bit of the opening scene the woman discovered a ghost.
We wanted to try our best to make the story realistic, and so that the audience believed that they were in the action themselves. We also want our film to have as many camera angles and shots as we can, and this would help the audience to get around the situation, and see what is happening from all angles.
Target Audience Research
I decided to produce a questionnaire for my research. I asked a total of ten people to complete my questionnaire, as I thought this would give me accurate enough results. Obviously if i was properly making a big film, i would ask many more people that just 10. I also asked a total of nine questions, and they were based on the genre of the film that i was creating, which was horror. I asked people mainly from the ages of 15-24, which is the age group that i am aiming my film for, so would give me more accurate results. The results from my survey were very useful, because it told me what my target audience wanted and expected from my film, and helped me with the production of it.
I found out from my survey that the most popular genre was Comedy, and then action, and horror came in third. This showed me that maybe in our horror we could have included a bit of comedy to increase the amount of people that would have been interested. I also found out that many people go to the cinema to watch the newly released films. Horror films was shown to be quite popular, but people did prefer thrillers.
I also asked my target audience why they go to see a film, and what influences them to go. Out of the ten people that took my questionnaire, said that the trailer influences them, and 2 said it was because of the director, and 1 person said that their friends influence them to go.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
I think that there are many similarities between these two actors. In our film, the female actor screams, similarly to the way that 'Drew Barrymore' does in the picture to the right. This could show that they may both be a bit fearful. They may also be similar because they are both at home. Laure in our film plays the role of the stereo-typical woman, where in that case she was in the kitchen, and similarly the woman to the right is at home, with her comfortable surroundings. Also, they both show that they can get quite angry at times, as the woman shouts at the man on the other end of the phone, and Laura shouts at Oliver in our film. They are also both protagonists in the films they play in.
Some of the differences however could include that the woman in the picture does not come across as controlling, where as in our horror film, Laura is. Also, the clothing is different, as in ours Laura is wearing a normal dress that you would wear around the house, and Drew Barrymore is wearing what looks to be a normal knitted jumper.
It was quite a hard job for us as a group to decide upon the personalities of our actors. We did not want to make them identical to other characters that have been seen in other films, because then the audience could get bored, and will all ready know how she is going to act. However, we did not want to make them too different, because we wanted the audience to get a slight feel of how she may or may not act.
