Target Audience
Male:
Female:
Demographics
However, we decided not to have a specific gender, because then it could appeal to more people. We also did this because our research showed that both Males and Females enjoy watching horrors, so we thought it was common sense to aim it at them both. We also did the same for races, as this would broaden out our film, and make it more suitable for everyone. We did not select a specific geographical location, so that everyone around the world could relate to it.
In the film we have created, their are two protagonists. Both of them are young adults, and have just purchased a new home, of which they are moving in to. So because the ages of the protagonists in are film are young adults, we decided to aim it at that set age group. This also would attract teenagers, as it could show them that they could be in a happy relationship. We did not set a specific gender or race. The reason for this is so that everyone could relate to it, and so that the film could be broaden out to many different ranges of audiences.
Psychographics
We discussed as a group how we were going to interest young people, and we knew that the Cinema would be a very likely option, because many people go out at least once a month to visit it, and see a new film that has been released into the marketplace. Also, many of the young teenagers go to the cinema just to view the latest horror movies.
When our group were thinking about what type of music to go with the genre, we thought of a Jewellery box noise. We could not find one that was appropriate enough, so we decided to go for a calm piece of music, which also has a reference to horror. We found the perfect music for this, and put it over the top of our title sequence.
Also in our film, we tried to make our character stereotypical, because then many people in the audience would have been able to relate to it. We also didn't want the opening scene to be too boring, so at the final bit of the opening scene the woman discovered a ghost.
We wanted to try our best to make the story realistic, and so that the audience believed that they were in the action themselves. We also want our film to have as many camera angles and shots as we can, and this would help the audience to get around the situation, and see what is happening from all angles.
Target Audience Research
I decided to produce a questionnaire for my research. I asked a total of ten people to complete my questionnaire, as I thought this would give me accurate enough results. Obviously if i was properly making a big film, i would ask many more people that just 10. I also asked a total of nine questions, and they were based on the genre of the film that i was creating, which was horror. I asked people mainly from the ages of 15-24, which is the age group that i am aiming my film for, so would give me more accurate results. The results from my survey were very useful, because it told me what my target audience wanted and expected from my film, and helped me with the production of it.
I found out from my survey that the most popular genre was Comedy, and then action, and horror came in third. This showed me that maybe in our horror we could have included a bit of comedy to increase the amount of people that would have been interested. I also found out that many people go to the cinema to watch the newly released films. Horror films was shown to be quite popular, but people did prefer thrillers.
I also asked my target audience why they go to see a film, and what influences them to go. Out of the ten people that took my questionnaire, said that the trailer influences them, and 2 said it was because of the director, and 1 person said that their friends influence them to go.
